I am Nicola Tsoukatos and I create gardens that are immersive spaces with a naturalistic style and a real sense of place.
Nature and the environment have always been important to me. I started my career getting my hands dirty on practical conservation projects in the UK and abroad. This lead to work in the charity and local government sectors, raising environmental awareness and promoting a greener lifestyle through publications and community events to individuals, groups and schools.
Originally from England, I moved to Norway in 2012 whereupon I discovered a love of gardening. Although I was enthusiastic I soon realised that I needed to understand the science better in order to become a better gardener. I began studying a Diploma in Horticulture with the Royal Horticultural Society. It wasn’t long before my small collection of pots wasn’t enough. Over the next 3 years I started creating a kitchen garden for a local school while blogging my gardening experiences. In 2015 I started volunteering on a regular basis with two exciting community food growing projects in the city: OIKOS and the Øverland Community Farm.
In 2016 I went onto train with the Inchbald School of Design in London, gaining a Diploma in Garden Design, with distinction.
All my designs are hand-drawn and conceptualised from my studio in Oslo. I work primarily in and around Oslo but would consider projects from further afield.
